Ly-Lee Funk grew up on a livestock farm in central Iowa. Having many feeding chores every morning before school, Ly-Lee learned to see each animal as an individual with its own personality and features. Through the years, she has developed that skill to a higher degree and uses it in her artwork. Her commissions show the individual personality of the subjects
she paints.

An avid equestrian, Ly-Lee was given her first pony at age four and has been riding and showing non-stop for over 40 years. She currently owns ten horses, and competes in Dressage.

Ly-Lee has also held wildlife permits, allowing her to own and closely study a variety of wildlife. She currently is a partner in a game preserve.

“What I do today is very important, because I am paying a day of my life for it.
What I accomplish must be worthwhile because the price is very high." Author unknown.

Ly-Lee started drawing at a very young age. A few of Ly-Lee’s many art awards include being selected the ‘Iowa Elk Breeders Artist of the Year’, ‘Iowa Horse Fair People’s Choice Art Award’, and voted ‘Favorite Artist’ at many art shows.
